Tuesday Tips and Techniques: Break Your Own Rules!

I have this thing about not going back to a journal spread once I've called it "done".  I also don't jump around in my journals; I go page by page until the journal is complete.  Those are self imposed "laws" that I have used in my journaling and I think they served a purpose for me in the beginning. But now, there's a new sheriff in town!

I wasn't pleased with the way my journal spread turned out in my last video, and it's been bugging me.  I thought the spread needed more color and movement.  So guess what?  I BROKE MY RULE of  "never going back to work on a spread".  Here's the video in case you missed the premier.

I added a darker red and green, and I added a little blue craft acrylic to the pages, and guess what?  I finally like my spread!  No Art Journal Police came pounding on my door.  There were no repercussions.  There was only me, able to look at my pages without cringing, and finally able to call this spread "done".

What self imposed "journal laws" have you placed upon yourself.  Break a couple of those rules.  You just might be glad you did.  Happy creating, and as always, "Celebrate, LOVE, and Create!"
